What is biological pest control?

Have you exhausted every means to get rid of pests but all to no avail? Pests are destructive animals that can make your house desolate or get your company ruined if care is not taken. So, it would be best if you took a decisive action now.

That said, there are several means of getting rid of pests, one of which is the biological control method.
The biological method of control involves the introduction of pest natural enemies into the pest endemic area. The form of control seems to be best out of other control methods due to the following reasons:• It is target/pest-specific
• It does not cause environmental pollution
• It is cost-effective in the long run

Despite these greats benefits, it is important that you study the pests in your house, farm, office before introducing a biological control. For instance, if you experience continued rat disturbance in your home, you can easily wipe them out by getting one or two cats. However, this depends on the size of your home.

Another common residential pest is the bed bug. A bed bug is one hell of an insect that hides in the nook and crannies of beds and sofas. These insects are not worth keeping in a home; aside from the fact that they make sleep unenjoyable, they also suck your blood and introduce disease into your system.

Often, people use pyrethroids-based chemicals in getting rid of these insects, but the potency of these insecticides has reduced over the years. And this has led to the introduction of Beauveria bassiana, a biological control that wipes out bed bugs in their entirety. Gently apply Beauveria bassiana to the affected area, but you need to wait for about six days before a pronounced effect can be seen.

Moving forward, pests do not only affect homes; they also plague industries. They destroy goods, mess up the whole place, and lead to a massive loss on the manufacturer’s part.

One of the common pests found in industries is the cockroach. This insect damages good and puts the health of the workers at risk.

Unfortunately, most manufacturers find it hard to eliminate them, but an easy way to destroy this creature is by introducing organisms like beetle larvae and silverfish at some strategic positions in the company. These natural enemies would eat up the cockroaches in no time.

At this point, we must reiterate that biological method of control sometimes requires the service of a specialist for effective pest removal.
